On working for Pasquill Roof Trusses
Every day is different. From designing small garages or extensions for local builders to apartment blocks for national house builders, there is always a wide spread of complexity. I like a challenge and take a great deal of pride knowing that we have solved and supplied a particularly complicated roof structure. There is also a good team of people within the group and everyone knows that if they need assistance, then there is always somebody available to help.
Personal design ethos
I always try and find the most efficient yet economical design solution possible, both from a manufacturing and site erection point-of-view. I also try and make any drawings for site use clear and concise, making sure that any necessary notes and construction details are easily identified. If we can stop the site from needing to make a call, then it speeds up the whole erection process, and the client ends up with their roof on the building quicker.

I mainly prepare design work for the major national housebuilders; however I do get involved with work for builders’ merchants like Jewson and small local builders who bring their enquiries in directly to the branch at Chorley.

On solving customer problems
This obviously depends on the nature of the problem! I will always try and solve their issues over the phone straightaway, as time is always of the essence on-site. If the problem can’t be solved immediately, and depending on how urgent the issue is, then we will look to issue drawings to help via e-mail, fax or post.
On what makes Pasquill Roof Trusses different to other manufacturers
I believe that we offer a product quality and level of service that no other manufacturer does. From receipt of enquiry to delivering the trusses, the customer is kept informed of who is dealing with their project and when they can anticipate quotes, deliveries, etc. Also, the level of detailing on drawings for site use is of a high standard that is frequently commended.
On my most interesting projects
I always enjoy working on apartment blocks or retirement homes as they pose many problems that require solving.
On relaxation
Most of my free-time is taken up by my partner and two daughters. We enjoy walking the dog in the evenings and weekends as it gives us all a chance to get some exercise and fresh air (although I’m sure as they get older, it’ll change to walking round shopping centres!!). I play 6-a-side football on a weekly basis, the chance to run about for an hour helps to relieve any stress built up over the week! I am also a keen fisherman, and enjoy sitting by a lake or river on a sunny day thinking about nothing in particular!
